Long time no see!!

Wow, I didn't realize that it's been more than a year since my last post. Well, since it's quite a long holiday, I have some time to write down some reviews. Hopefully I can finish and post them in the next few hours.

It's All Greek to Me by Katie MacAllister

When Eglantine "Harry" knight sets off for Greece at the last minute to step in as manager of a friend's touring band, the last thing she expects is to meet a billionaire Greek playboy. Iakovos Papaionannou is perfection on every level, except for his unpronounceable name. And Harry can't stop herself from falling hard and fast for him.

Iakovoos knew his sister hired her favorite band to perform at her birthday party; he's just not sure where this six-foot-tall, wild-haired, tempestuous woman fits in, or how she's already ended up in his bed-and in his heart. Harry is so not his type. She's as infuriating as she is intriguing, and she can't keep her hands off his butt. But she just may be the woman who knocks him off the world's most eligible bachelor list for good . . .

A Tailor-Made Bride by Karen Witemeyer

Jericho "J.T." Tucker wants nothing to do with Coventry, Texas's new dressmaker. He's all too familiar with her kind--shallow women
more devoted to fashion than true beauty. Yet, except for her well-tailored clothing, this seamstress is not at all what he expected.
Hannah Richards is confounded by the man who runs the livery. The unsmiling fellow riles her with his arrogant assumptions and gruff
manner while at the same time stirring her heart with unexpected acts of kindness. Which side of Jericho Tucker reflects the real man?
When Hannah decides to help Jericho's sister catch a beau--leading to uproarious consequences for the whole town--will Jericho and Hannah find a way to bridge the gap between them?

Love in the Time of Dragons by Katie MacAlister

Tully Sullivan is just like any other suburban mom—unless you count the days every year that she zones out and turns base metals in to gold. Those are weird.

And now she’s woken up in a strange place surrounded by strange people who keep insisting they’re dragons—and that she’s one too. But not just any dragon. She’s Ysolde de Bouchier, a famed figure from dragon history.

Tully can’t shape-shift or breathe fire, and she’s definitely not happy being sentenced to death for the misdeeds of a dragon mate she can’t remember. All Tully knows is that she wants her son back. So she’ll have to find a way to solve the crimes of a past she has no memory of living…

The Dragons of Dorcastle

Title: The Dragons of Dorcastle
Series: The Pillars of Reality Book 1
Author: Jack Campbell
Narrator: MacLeod Andrews
Format: Audiobook

Romeo and Juliet in an alternate universe. In this story, Alain is a very straightforward mage that was taught to suppress his emotions and consider all other beings as shadows, something that was not important as mages. While Mari is a highly skilled Mechanics that was also taught that Commons (ordinary people) are beneath their notice as they cannot do what the Mechanics do. In this competition of power between sorcery and machinery, where Mages and Mechanics are told to hate the other, an attack on a caravan brought Alain and Mari together for a short while, wary at first, but learning that the other side is not as it seemed as what they believed.

I really like this story, got swept by it, and couldn't put it down until it ended. I love how Mari patiently taught Alain the basics of human relations and how Alain never look down on Mari just because she's a young woman. This meeting marked the first change in their world, something that had been brewing for some time, something they both didn't realize at that time.

Finn Fancy Necromancy

The story opened with the homecoming of Finn, who was sentenced 25 years in exile (only his spirit, not his body) for a crime he didn't commit. But even then there were intruders that almost prevented him getting back to his own body. One thing lead to another, until he was facing a possibility of exile again. And now Finn only have 3 days to solve the mystery of why someone wanted him back in exile.

Not quite hit the mark for me. The story's good, but somehow I felt that it's missing something that made me want to read it till the end without stopping.

Year One: A Quincy Harker, Demon Hunter Collection

This title contains 4 superb short stories that can be read independently, but in my opinion it's better to read them according to the order.
In this book we meet Quincy Harker, nephew of the original Vlad THE Dracula (a.k.a Uncle Luke), half-human, half-vampire, part-time sorcerer, and one bad-ass demon hunter.
But the paranormal parade didn't stop there. There's also his guardian angel, Glory, legions of demons (and some angels), vampires, a fairy, and a witch. While from the human side there's Detective Rebecca Flynn and Rendsfield, his uncle's butler extraordinaire.
I really enjoy reading this book, although sometimes the goriness made me cringe. If you like mystery and paranormal stuff, this book is perfect for you.
